Intelligent Transportation Systems Establishment Project:

Under the Kaohsiung City Traffic Control System Establishment Plan, roadside traffic control systems and equipment were installed at a total of 652 locations, including CCTV systems at 247 locations, panorama monitoring systems at 2 locations, automatic vehicle identification systems at 88 locations, vehicle detectors at 195 locations, variable message signs at 99 locations, traffic status signs at 6 locations, and parking guidance information signs at 15 locations. 2,430 intersections were included in the monitoring system of the Intelligent Transportation Center.


Intelligent Transportation Systems Establishment Project

To enhance the overall performance of the traffic control system in greater Kaohsiung, the 4-year 4-phase “Planning and Establishment Plan for Advanced Traffic Management System Expansion Project” (2011-2014) was carried out. In 2011 and 2012, the Cishan-Meinong ITS Corridor and Dafa Industrial Park ITS Corridor were established in succession to provide real-time, accurate and useful traffic information to break the traffic bottleneck as well as boost the efficiency of transportation in the tourist attractions and industrial park. Subsequently the establishment of Kaohsiung Science Park ITS Corridor presently has been completed in blueprint, and the construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2013.

The 2013-2017 project of integrating traffic control systems of Kaohsiung-Pingtung area has been planned. With the cloud integration of the traffic control systems of Kaohsiung City, Pingtung County, Taiwan Area National Freeway Bureau, MOTC and Directorate General of Highways, MOTC, the objectives of sharing information and connecting equipment of the road network systems of Kaohsiung-Pingtung area, as well as co-governing these systems with strategies, can be achieved. In 2013, the priority will be given to the integration of the traffic management systems of three major bridges (Kaohsiung-Pingtung Bridge, Shuangyuan Bridge, and Wanda Bridge) in Kaohsiung-Pingtung area.
