    Kaohsiung Zhengde Parking Lot In order to increase parking supply for local residents, multiple parking lot construction approaches were adopted to build Kaohsiung Zhengde Parking Lot in collaboration with the Southern Region Branch of the National Property Administration. It provides 14 spaces for small vehicles.

    Traffic Calming Zone Traffic calming zones have been planned in areas frequented by pedestrians and school children in the vicinity of elementary and secondary schools to implement human-oriented transportation and solve neighborhood traffic issues such as roads shared by pedestrians and vehicles and illegal parking of cars and scooters. The goal is to link existing sidewalks and decrease car running speeds. Between January and August 2020, six traffic calming zones have been created in Wanai, Wansheng, Jhengsing, and Baojhong Boroughs in Sanmin District, Wunhua Borough in Fongshan District, and Minjhu Borough in Lingya District to build a safe traffic environment through “neighborhood passageways” for pedestrians and vehicles.

    Giant Traffic Lights for Pedestrians In response to the need of the aging society, traffic lights for pedestrians need to be more easily identifiable. After reviewing the situation, giant traffic lights for pedestrians are to be placed at crossroads near hospitals, shopping areas, and places frequented by seniors. Works have been completed at 14 crossroads including Zhongshan/Sanduo Roads.

    Jiasian Public Parking Lot The parking lot is located at No. 70 of Linsen Road in Jiasian District near the crossroad with Zhongzheng Road. The land was under Economic Development Bureau’s administration, and was constructed as a toll parking lot that offers 18 spaces for small vehicles. It helps increase local parking supply and improve the surrounding environment.

    Gangxing Community Public Parking Lot For increasing local parking supply, land for road construction was borrowed from Construction Office of the Public Works Bureau to open up this toll parking lot combining with the Bureau’s parking ground. The parking lot can accommodate 45 small vehicles in a good parking environment.

    General-purpose Taxis Outnumber 300 To protect the right of travel for people with mobility problems, the government presses on with its effort to promote the “general-purpose taxis” and subsidize the disabled iPass users for taking the taxis. The number of the taxis has exceeded 300 now and the number of rides offered reached 511,149. These record high numbers show the eye-catching accomplishments of the policy.

    T-junction Green Light Turns on Early In order to improve the problem of the interweaving of the turning vehicles with pedestrians and turning motorcycles in the T-intersections, the green lights in the waiting-to-turn lanes at 222 T-intersections have been adjusted for early turn-on so as to reduce the conflict between pedestrians and vehicles.

    Zhengxian Public Parking Lot To satisfy the need for parking space, the city government borrowed the square in front of the former Bureau of Standards of the Department of Finance to build a public parking lot adjacent Lane 242 of Xianzheng Road in Lingya District (next to Lingya Motor Vehicles Office) to accommodate as many as 52 small vehicles.

    Kaohsiung City is the first city in Taiwan to adopt the cellphone QR CODE bus riding service. Routes Orange 12 and Orange 20, as well as all G-Bus routes, have taken the lead to enable the mobile payment of QR CODE bus riding service in Taiwan. People can take the bus by just swiping their mobile phone to pay by Line Pay Money (iPass QR CODE).

    Illegal Left-Turn Warning Systems for Motorcyclists were installed on a trial basis at two intersections, namely Jhonghua/Jhengcin and Jhonghua/Shihdai Blvd., to correct illegal riding behavior. The number of cases of making illegal left turns has decreased by 82% after the enforcement.
