- For citizens to have access to parking resources and to prevent long-time occupation of parking spaces, the parking fee policy was implemented in 1984. By the end of July 2021, there are 77,060 parking spaces for small vehicles, including 52,422 on-street parking spaces and 24,638 off-street parking spaces and parking fees are charged on about 80%. Parking fees will be charged on 7 sections (with 1,388 parking spaces) and hourly parking fees will be charged on 21 sections (with 439 parking spaces) in 2021H2. In the future, the most suitable rates will be planned according to the regional parking demands to enhance the utilization rate of public parking space and ensure the user pays principle.
- To increase the revenue of funds through the operational flexibility and efficiency of private enterprises and address the resignation and retirement of fixed-term contract employees and the workforce shortage after the suspension of the recruitment of fixed-term contract employees, TBKC began to outsource parking fee ticket issuance to private enterprises at the end of December 2016. Currently, three contracts, including the “Kaohsiung City North On-Street Parking Fee Ticket Issuance Outsourcing Service,” “Kaohsiung City East On-Street Parking Fee Ticket Issuance Outsourcing Service” and “Kaohsiung City South and Motorcycle and Cijin District On-Street Parking Fee Ticket Issuance Outsourcing Service” are in force. In the future, the scope of service outsourcing will be adjusted according to the workforce shortages.
