[Kaohsiung News] In order to facilitate residents in Renwu and Niaosong Districts of Kaohsiung City to travel to and from Zuoying Station of High Speed Rail, Veterans General Hospital, and Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, the Transportation Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government has newly set up a bus route “R61” covering Zuoying Station of High Speed Rail-Veterans General Hospital-Chang Gung Memorial Hospital. During the trial run of R61 as of April 2021, the new route was well received by local residents. From July 1, brand new electric buses are put to service on route R61, providing the public with a more comfortable and convenient bus route.
The Transportation Bureau indicated that in order to provide easy access between Zuoying Station of High Speed Rail and Renwu/Niaosong Districts, and a convenient and direct route between medical facilities and Renwu/Niaosong Districts, the Transportation Bureau has set up a new bus route “R61” which was put on trial run by South Taiwan Bus Co. on April 1, 2021. Highly praised by local people during the trial run, the R61 has started to serve the local residents with brand new electric buses since July 1, 2021. Moreover, the R61 also comes with the prioritized ticket scanning machine with dual functions of smart card and QR code, which gives the public more choices.
The Transportation Bureau further pointed out that the R61 bus route is able to meet the needs of the local people as it starts from Zuoying Station of High Speed Rail, passes Veterans General Hospital and Renwu/Niaosong Districts, and reaches Chang Gung Memorial Hospital. Ms. Wang, a local resident, stated that: “As a local resident of Bagualiao of Renwu District, I used to go to the hospital by transferring multiple bus routes. But now, I can go to the hospital directly via route R61. It is so convenient!”
The Transportation Bureau also reminded the public that in response to the current national Level-III COVID-19 alert, passengers must properly wear face masks when taking the bus to protect one another. The public is also advised to cooperate with the central government’s contact-based registration policy when taking the bus to jointly contribute to the epidemic prevention work!
