According to Director-General Chang Shu-chuan of the Transportation Bureau, Kaohsiung iBus, an app developed based on the data from the real-time bus arrival information system, is one of the most used and downloaded apps provided by the city government. Statistics show that in 2020, ”Kaohsiung iBus” was used 66 million times and downloaded 48,000 times. It provides convenient and time-saving services that allow the public to check bus routes and track bus location on their smartphones in advance.
The Transportation Bureau said that the city government has been actively promoting the development of Open Data and encouraging companies to cooperate with one another to leverage innovation and creativity to create infinite possibilities for the transportation technology and the service industry.
Companies already used TDX to develop real-time bus information apps, such as Taiwan Bus Info., Kaohsiung Bus Info., and Bus+. These apps not only provide multiple optimal options to people in need of real-time bus information but also allow more flexible use of information provided by the government, thereby achieving win-win outcomes for the public and private sectors.
The Transportation Bureau will continue to work with MOTC to update transportation information, including public transportation, real-time traffic situation, and ticketing affairs. The cooperation will make more transportation service information diverse and available on TDX to meet various needs of the public, industries, government policy-making process, and value-added service providers.
