The preliminary survey of the section (C32-C1, C14-C17) of the Danan Loop light rail line completed! We continue to advance toward the goal of opening to traffic!

【Kaohsiung News】 The preliminary survey of the section (C32-C1 and C14-C17) of the Danan Loop light rail line was completed today, and the Kaohsiung City Government will soon report to the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) for a second survey. Secretary-General Yang Ming-juo stated that we have taken a major step toward our goal of opening the section of the Danan Loop light rail line to traffic.
According to the Transportation Bureau, the city government conducted a preliminary survey of certain sections to evaluate the Kaohsiung Circular Light Rail Transit’s second phase on December 1, enlisting the help of 9 experts in civil engineering, electrical and mechanical engineering, and operation from all over the country to form a preliminary survey committee, with Professor Hsu Tien-pen as the chief convener. The MOTC also sent staff to attend and oversee operations.
After one day of rigorous testing, 7 "Improvements Before Performing Investigation" items, 5 "General Attention Improvement Items" and 17 "Subsequent Suggestions for Improvement" were issued. The city government requested the Mass Rapid Transit Bureau and Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corporation to complete the "Improvement Before Performing Survey" as soon as possible by mid-December under the aim of reporting to the MOTC for a second survey.
The location and items of the preliminary survey are Station C32 (Kaisyuan Park Station), evaluating the handling of a fire accident on the platform, and Station C34 (Wucyuan Elementary School Station), evaluating insufficient train power. Chief convener Xu Tian-ben and Deputy Mayor Lin Qin-rong both affirmed that relevant units of the exercise demonstrated excellent communication and execution, with rescue scenarios and accident elimination performed as quickly as possible. The exercise was extremely successful, with the team’s emergency response capability also worthy of recognition.
Secretary-General Yang Ming-juo attended the preliminary survey summary meeting to express Mayor Chen Qi-mai’s concerns, stating that the city’s circular light rail expands future demands for commuting, schooling, medical care, tourism, and transfer services in order to create a more convenient city transportation system. With the efforts of the city government, the light rail project will be completed as scheduled under good quality. Secretary-General Yang also expects the engineering team to optimize planning and management as well as minimize the impact on the surrounding traffic environment, so that the light rail not only serves tourists or serves as a mass transport facility, but also becomes a part of citizens’ daily lives.
Director of Transportation Bureau Chang Shu-juan also stated that this section is the first preliminary survey of the phase-2 light rail. After it opens to traffic, the Danan Loop section (C32 via C1 to C17 station) will hold an operating route of 12.8 kilometers, with a service range increasing from the existing 14 stations to 23 stations, starting from the east at The Heping Campus of Kaohsiung Normal University, passing Minsheng Hospital, MRT Red Line Kaisyuan Station, Dream Mall, the Software Park, Kaohsiung Music Center, Pier-2 Art District, MRT Orange Line Sizihwan Station, ALIEN Art Center, and Wenwu Temple, connecting to the Gushan District Office in the West. We not only expand the service demand for commuting, schooling, and tourism, but complete a new milestone in the urban rail transportation service of the Greater Kaohsiung area.
