From August, Kaohsiung Offers Additional MeN Go Points for Purchasing Monthly Unlimited Transportation Passes!

Kaohsiung NewsGood News! Additional MeN Go points will be offered to those who purchase Kaohsiung MeN Go Monthly Transportation Passes from August 1, 2020 to the end of December 2020. The promotional campaign applies to all types of MeN Go monthly passes and offers bonuses varying from 200 to 600 points. Holders of the MeN Go pass could rent the public bike, YouBike 2.0, free of charge for the first 30 minutes for unlimited journeys and redeem MeN Go points to take taxis, rent shared scooters, and pay for monthly parking permits. Citizens may use “stimulus vouchers” to purchase MeN Go transportation passes, so don’t miss out!
The Acting Director-General of the Transportation Bureau Chang Shu-Chuan pointed out that there are four types of Kaohsiung Monthly Transportation Passes, namely “Unlimited Rides” (on MRT, LRT, and buses), “Unlimited Rides on Buses,” “Unlimited Rides on Ferries,” and “Unlimited Rides on Buses and Intercity Buses.” Subsidies of NT$200 to NT$249 are given for purchases of the monthly passes until September 30, 2020, bringing down the ticket prices to NT$1299, NT$279, NT$1600, and NT$1250 respectively, which greatly benefits public transportation commuters and travelers. To further encourage citizens to transfer by using other modes of public transportation, up to 600 additional MeN Go points will be given for purchases of the monthly passes from August 1, 2020. One MeN Go point equals NT$1, and passengers can use the points when transferring to a different mode of transportation.
The Transportation Bureau explained that MeN Go points could be redeemed for taxis, shared scooters, public bikes, and MRT transfer parking lots. Taxi fleets that accept MeN Go points include Crown Taxi and YES TAXi, allowing passengers to redeem up to 85 points for each trip. For shared electric scooters, UrDa and WeMo, 25 points can be redeemed for the first 12 minutes of each journey. Those who use MeN Go passes to rent the public bike, YouBike 2.0, can enjoy free rides for the first 30 minutes for unlimited journeys. Regarding the parking lots, 180 points and 600 points could be redeemed for a free monthly scooter parking permit and a 15-day car parking permit, respectively, for four MRT transfer parking lots, including Ciaotou, Cingpu, Wukuaicuo, and Martial Arts Stadium. Moreover, MeN Go pass holders can get free Cijin Ferry rides 4 times a month.
The Transportation Bureau explained what benefits a holder would get by using the Unlimited Rides Monthly Pass as an example: with 600 additional MeN Go points earned, the holder actually pays NT$699 for NT$1,299 worth of the monthly pass. This convenient service takes the worry about transportation expenses out of weekday commuters and weekend travelers.
MeN Go also provides information and route planning for each mode of transportation through its mobile app and website. For more details, please visit the official website of “MeN Go Transportation Service” at https://www.men-go.tw/.
