On May 18, total quantity control will be launched for tour buses in Sizihwan and temporary bus parking lots outside the control zone will be opened

The Kaohsiung City Government has announced the implementation of total quantity control for tour buses to improve traffic conditions in the Sizihwan area. Starting on May 18, only 45 tour buses with a permit will be allowed to enter Sizihwan every hour between 3 and 7 p.m. every day. The temporary off-road parking lots constructed by the Transportation Bureau around the control zone will be opened one by one starting on May 15. In addition, the temporary bus parking areas on both sides of Linhaisin Road have been built. On May 18, the control will be launched while shuttle buses will start operating to carry tourists into Sizihwan.
In response to the demand of local residents for improved traffic, the city government decided to initiate the total quantity control program for tour buses in Sizihwan. 45 tour buses will be granted access with a permit every hour between 3 and 7 p.m. every day starting on May 18. Travel agencies and bus operators can apply for a permit on the website of the Tourism Bureau. Online applications have been accepted on the reservation website since May 11. Traffic control and guidance signs have also been installed around the control zone.
In coordination with the total quantity control measure for tour buses, Sun Yat-sen University provides 35 bus parking spaces in its parking lots. Moreover, the Transportation Bureau built temporary off-road parking lots outside the control zone, designated temporary bus parking spaces, and planned shuttle services that will be available on a fare basis to transport tourists into and out of Sizihwan. The temporary bus parking lot to the south of Linhaisin Road will be opened on May 15, providing 11 parking spaces for buses and another 37 spaces from late June or so. The parking lot to the east of the Port of Kaohsiung Archway on Penglai Road will accommodate 12 buses on the day when the control program is launched (May 18). The temporary bus parking areas on Linhaisin Road are also ready. With the launch of the control on May 18, shuttle buses will start operating to transport tourists into Sizihwan.
