Shared mobility service operators take part in battle against COVID-19 by carrying out safe disinfection work

As part of the government’s efforts to minimize the risk of clustering of infections by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and improve epidemic prevention in the innovative transport sector, the Transportation Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government is working with shared mobility service operators on intensive disinfection of vehicles on a daily basis. Citizens are assured of clean shared vehicles.

According to the Transportation Bureau, local shared mobility service operators such as WeMo Scooter, iRent, and Gokube have kept up with the epidemic prevention work of the central and city governments, performing intensive disinfection of their shared vehicles, safety helmets, other accessories, and the environment during daily inspections. The operators have also put up posters in their offices and posted on Facebook and other media to promote epidemic prevention measures and urge users to wear face masks, wash their hands frequently, and use shared vehicles without worries.

The Transportation Bureau stressed that the city government endeavors to build a low-carbon, sustainable city and one of the actions is actively promoting innovative transport services. However, the challenges posed by the COVID-19 are dire. In case of any signs of respiratory disease or discomfort, citizens shall seek medical advice or implement health self-management as soon as possible and be sure to adopt personal protective measures, so as to make subsequent reporting and follow-ups easier and prevent the spread of the epidemic.
