Electric Motorcycle Sharing Service Expands to Facilitate Shared Transport

iRent, electric motorcycle sharing service, is scheduled to launch in Kaohsiung City on November 20. A total of 500 shared electric motorcycles will initially be provided on demand in 10 administrative districts, including Zuoying District, Gushan District, Sanmin District, Cianjhen District, Fongshan District, and Niaosong District. With this electric motorcycle sharing service available, public transport is connected from the first mile to the last mile across Kaohsiung City to provide a new choice of green vehicles with enhanced eco-friendliness and convenience for people.

According to the Transportation Bureau, the Kaohsiung City Government has been committed to creating a low-carbon sustainable city by promoting new types of public transport. In response to the development of shared vehicles, the Kaohsiung City Government has established the self-government ordinances and regulations for shared vehicles. At present, services providing green vehicle sharing include 400 Gokube shared electric bicycles, 50 LavieBike shared pedelecs, and WeMo Scooter launched on October 21, as well as iRent, which is scheduled to launch on November 20.

New types of green vehicles combine the existing bus, MRT, and light rail transit in Kaohsiung City to connect the first mile to the last mile, making public transport more flexible and convenient. Various preferential rates have been offered on the market to allow more consumers to experience smart transportation services at an affordable price in hopes of gradually reducing the possession and use of private fuel vehicles. The new types of green vehicles are expected to further reduce air pollution and become new choices for commuting and sightseeing in Kaohsiung City.
