Kaohsiung City Expands Cooperation with Eight Hospitals to Provide Fast-Track Medical Service Process to Rehabus users.

【Kaohsiung News】Considering that users of rehabus services take longer time to access medical services than the general public due to reduced mobility, the Transportation Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government has worked with Kaohsiung Medical University Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital to provide the fast-track medical service process since May 2020, so as to shorten the time rehabus users spend waiting for healthcare. The more efficient medical and transportation services have gained widespread recognition.
Currently, there are eight hospitals providing the fast-track medical service process. They are Kaohsiung Medical University Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital, E-DA Hospital, Yuan's General Hospital, Kaohsiung Municipal Ta-Tung Hospital, Kaohsiung Municipal Min-Sheng Hospital, Kaohsiung Municipal Siaogang Hospital, Kaohsiung Municipal Cijin Hospital, and Kaohsiung Municipal United Hospital. The fast-track process helps shorten the wait time of patients who take rehabus to the hospitals for medical attention, thereby enhancing the convenience of rehabus services and the efficiency of rehabus operations.
According to Director-General Chang Shu-chuan of the Transportation Bureau, the integration of rehabus booking system into hospitals’ appointment systems allows hospitals to know in advance the estimated time of arrival and departure of rehabus users. Healthcare workers can therefore prioritize the arrangement for these patients, so that they will not miss rehabus for return trips due to long wait times for medical consultations. This also helps improve the service efficiency of rehabus, leading to better use of resources.
Kaohsiung Bus, the provider of rehabus service, took Kaohsiung Medical University Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital as an example, saying that after the introduction of the fast-track process, the number of people taking rehabus to hospitals has increased by 25%, and the wait time has decreased by 30 minutes. The Transportation Bureau and Kaohsiung Bus will continue to communicate with more medication institutions to introduce the fast-track medical service process. People with disabilities are encouraged to use rehabus services to shorten the time to access medical attention.
