Upgraded Holiday Service of JOY Bus H31: Cishan-Maolin-Duona

[Kaohsiung News] To work towards Kaohsiung Mayor Han Kuo-yu’s policy of reinforcing bus service (increasing stops and frequencies) under the goal of “Balancing urban and rural service in Kaohsiung,” Director-General Cheng, Yung-Hsiang of the Transportation Bureau, Kaohsiung City Government  and District Executive Angopaw‧Komola of the Maolin District Office jointly hosted the launch of “JOY Bus H31 Holiday Service” at Maolin District Office Activity Center on April 16. The bus runs from Cishan Bus Terminal and goes through Maolin and Duona, linking up recreational attractions such as Maolin, Longtoushan, and Duona and providing tourists and residents with convenient public transportation services.
Director-General Cheng, Yung-Hsiang pointed out that the Bureau is going to add three extra bus shifts on holidays during the non-butterfly watching season to satisfy the transportation needs of Maolin residents and holiday travelers visiting sightseeing spots including Maolin and Duona. Visitors from other cities and counties are welcomed to use the service as well. Passengers may take the Cishan-Meinong Express Bus from HSR Zuoying Station or Kaohsiung-Cishan Express (E25, E28, or E32) from Kaohsiung Train Station to Cishan Bus Terminal, and transfer to JOY Bus H31 for a Maolin trip.
District Executive Angopaw‧Komola of the Maolin District stated that JOY Bus H31 had increased frequencies during the butterfly watching season in “Maolin Purple Butterfly Valley” in past years. Presently, three extra bus shifts are also added during the non-butterfly watching season. This is a good news for both visitors and local residents. He expressed his appreciation for the Transportation Bureau’s concern for Maolin District’s public transportation needs and all Kaohsiung local tourism operators’ efforts. All are welcomed to come visit Maolin.
According to the Transportation Bureau, Joy Bus H31 runs three times a day on weekdays (Monday to Friday), and now three extra bus shifts will be added on holidays for the convenience of tourists and local residents. Bus fare for this route is charged based on mileage (per zone). In addition, city bus currently offers a number of privileges and discounts, including free rides after paying two-zone fare in one day (i.e., a ceiling fare of NT$24, excluding express lines, sightseeing buses, cultural buses, and Joy Bus), NT$3 discounts for MRT-to-city bus transfers, and the ceiling fare of NT$60 for intercity buses. Moreover, citizens can easily inquire the bus arrival time using the Kaohsiung iBus App. For passenger information, please contact Cishan Bus Terminal (service line: 07-661-2053), or visit the Transportation Bureau’s website (www.tbkc.gov.tw) and Facebook Fan Page (@tbkcdream).
