Transportation Bureau replaces old bus stops with intelligent ones that feature a red stop request light, allowing passengers to signal a bus to stop without waving hands

The Transportation Bureau is carrying out a new intelligent bus stop installation project on Sanduo Road and Wufu Road, to provide better real-time information and lighting than what the old bus stops in Kaohsiung City have provided. The new intelligent bus stops not only display real-time information on four bus routes at once and provide better nighttime lighting, but they also feature a red stop request light. By simply pressing the button, passengers can switch the stop request light on, reminding bus drivers of waiting passengers from far away. This will help create a friendlier and more convenient environment for passengers waiting at bus stops.
The new intelligent bus stops are currently being constructed by the contractor. As some passengers complained that the temporary bus stops set up by the contractor for the installation project provided unclear information or were poorly designed, the Transportation Bureau has requested the contractor to improve safety measures and enhance the display of basic information about various bus routes. Moreover, the contractor has been required to adopt appropriate temporary measures during the installation period and deploy more workers to accelerate the installation, so as to provide excellent services for waiting passengers as soon as possible.
According to the Transportation Bureau, the old bus stops are unable to display real-time information about more than one bus route and provide adequate lighting. The new intelligent bus stops not only display real-time information about four bus routes at once and provide better nighttime lighting, but they also enhance the aesthetic appeal since the image of Kaohsiung City is incorporated into their design. Moreover, the new intelligent bus stops are equipped with a red stop request light, which is an innovative measure in this city. In the past, passengers were used to waving their hands to signal an approaching bus to stop. Now that the innovative red stop request light is equipped, passengers simply need to press the button in order to remind bus drivers of waiting passengers from far away.
The Transportation Bureau stated that they expect to install 38 intelligent bus stops to replace old ones on Sanduo Road and Wufu Road. The project is expected to be completed by mid-May. So far the installation work has been completed on Wufu Road, at the Dajhih Road intersection (westbound) and Dacheng Road intersection (both directions), and around Kaohsiung Girls' Senior High School (eastbound). The temporarily installed bus stops have also been removed. More efforts will be put to undertake supplementary measures for the installation project and accelerate the installation, so as to provide an excellent environment for waiting passengers as soon as possible.
