Subsidies for COVID-19 Supplies for Taxis Are Now Available for Application

【Kaohsiung News】 To involve all citizens in COVID-19 prevention efforts, from today the Transportation Bureau of the Kaohsiung City Government has started to accept the application for subsidies on COVID-19 supplies for taxis, a policy promulgated by the Directorate General of Highways of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications. To reduce the risk for contacts, the Transportation Bureau provides several contact-free application and submission channels, allowing taxi drivers to apply for subsidies without concerns while ensuring public health.
According to the Transportation Bureau, there are about 9,300 taxis with vocational licenses registered in Kaohsiung. The subsidy scheme covers COVID-19 supplies (such as disinfectants, bleach, face masks, disposable gloves, and rubbing alcohol) for taxis with vocational licenses registered between May 1, 2021, and May 31, 2022 (not including taxis that have been recycled, registered as non-operational, or scrapped or taxis whose licenses have been turned in, revoked, or canceled). Taxis whose licenses have been reissued should apply under separate license numbers. The subsidy is calculated based on the valid listing days during the aforementioned time period. Each taxi will receive a subsidy of NT$15 per day for up to 26 days per month (the subsidy will be provided once every three months with the maximum amount of NT$1,170 per provision). The subsidies are available until the pandemic alert level is lowered to level 1 or below or until the budget has been exhausted.
Taxi drivers can download application forms from the official website of the Transportation Bureau, fill out the forms, enclose relevant documents, and mail or fax to the Bureau or have their associations or cooperatives submit on their behalf. Taxi drivers can also complete the application online, which takes only a few minutes. In addition, taxi drivers operating under companies (fleets) will have their applications completed by the companies (fleets). The Transportation Bureau says that these various submission channels will help reduce the risk for contacts and prevent clusters, thereby ensuring public health.
The Transportation Bureau urges taxi drivers to apply for the subsidies within the application period to ensure their own rights.
