  1. Considerations taken for application of deferred payment plan for traffic violation fine:
    1. Citation recipient is unable to render fine as provided by Road Traffic Management and Penalty Regulations (hereinafter referred to as the Regulations) in lump sum due to personal financial status.
    2. Citation recipient suffers major financial losses due to natural disaster, accident, or other force majeure.
  2. Notice for application for installment payment of traffic violation fines:
    1. Fines incurred by violating Article 35 (governing driving under the influence) of this Act shall be paid up before a vehicle owner may retrieve his/her vehicle with the receipt. However, first-time traffic offenders who did not cause any traffic accidents may retrieve their vehicles with a fine payment receipt after paying the first installment.
    2. The Bureau does not accept installment payment applications concerning cases that have been referred for compulsory enforcement. Please submit the installment payment applications to the competent administrative enforcement agency.
    3. Each installment period is one month. The due date of all installment payments shall not pass the regular vehicle inspection deadline, the vehicle license expiration date, or the examination and expiration dates of the driver’s license. The duration of total installment payments shall not exceed 18 months, and the amount of each installment (with the exception of the last installment) shall not be less than NT$500. The first installment payment shall be made immediately upon approval.
    4. In the case that the regular vehicle inspection deadline has been exceeded, the vehicle license has expired, or the examination and expiration dates of the driver’s license have been exceeded, no applications for installment payment of traffic violation fines will be accepted.
    5. Fine payers who have been approved to make installment payments may apply for payment postponement once only, prior to the end of the current installment period, if they fail to make payment by the due date for specific reasons. The payment period shall not be extended by more than one month. If any installment payment is not made by the due date and the fine payers have not applied for payment postponement (once only), the unpaid fines will be regarded as overdue, and the cases will be referred for compulsory enforcement pursuant to the regulations.
    6. Before vehicle owners or drivers may apply for various registration services or renewal of license plates or licenses, they shall pay up all the unsettled fines incurred by violating this Act, even during the installment payment period, in accordance with the stipulation set forth in Article 9-1 of this Act.
